How can a U.S. citizen arrange an inheritance in Ukraine?

Good afternoon! I have been a U.S. citizen since 2013. Two weeks ago, my father died in Kiev. He made a will only for me, although there are other relatives. As I understand it, I have to make some kind of application in the UNITED STATES at a notary or a lawyer, I do not understand the difference. I was told that you can make such a statement. Tell me, please, do I need to look for a person who will deal with the issue of inheritance in Ukraine, or can you help?

Good afternoon! If you have a trustee in Kherson who will deal with the issue of inheritance, and I will only need to draw up documents, then you need:

1) application for inheritance;

2) power of attorney to your representative in Ukraine to perform all legal actions on your behalf and re-registration of your father’s property in your name.

Documents in the United States must be notarized, they must be apostille. In Kiev, documents must be translated into Ukrainian, translations must be notarized.

I need copies of your passport, your representative’s passport and your father’s death certificate. If you have changed Ukrainian documents, you will also need a document confirming the change of your surname.

To determine the cost of services, please send documents to my e-mail karina.duvall@gmail.com. Incl. please send a scan of your Ukrainian passport, because you must also have Ukrainian citizenship.

If you do not have a representative in Ukraine, our Ukrainian office will help you to arrange the entry into the inheritance without personal presence.
